Goodreads : The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.
Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.
Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.
Captivated. Lured. Loved.
Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.
My review : I'm not a fan of novellas. I often think that they add nothing to a series. For example I wasn't a huge fan of Daimon the prequel novella to another series by Jennifer L. Armentrout called The Covenant but for once I loved this one. Shadows is the prequel novella to the Lux series. I LOVED Obsidian so I was really excited to buy this novella when I saw that it was a little novel. Indeed the paper edition is coming out this summer and this novella in paper is 180 pages long. Shadows is awesome because it gives a lot of insight to the Lux series.
This is a novella with 2 POV. Dawson and Bethany. Dawson is Daemon's brother. And the amazing thing is that we already know before starting this novel that they're both going to die. In Obsidian we know that Dawson died and his human girlfriend too but we don't know why. It gives a bittersweet and sad feeling to this novella. I love tragic endings and this one was beautiful...
This novella is also really interesting because we know more about aliens. Obsidian is only from the "human" Kat POV.
I also loved the writing and their story. It's really romantic. It's a relationship that everybody wants, it's so sweet...
So yes I really enjoyed reading Shadows and I'm glad that I bought this novella.
