The summer I turned pretty by Jenny Han

Rating : 2 / 5

Goodreads : Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

My review : It was cute and quick book, perfect if you want a simple summer read but The summer I turned pretty didn't keep me hooked to the story and the characters, I wans't that thrilled...
I think it's not the kind of book that I want to read anymore...
Anyway let's talk a little about it ! I have to confess i'm really conflicted over this book. I didn't know how to rate it...
I loved that they all knew each other for years and that they spend every summer in the same place.
But otherwise through the book I kept looking at the characters critically and see all the flaws so I didn't enjoyed following their story and relationships between them... Belly often really gets on my nerves  and I didn't love the boys the boys that much.
The story has a lot of flashbacks of old summer memories of Belly, that I just find completely annoying.
And as for the end I was like... WHAT?! The whole story, all the flashbacks, and her struggles, for THIS!?
So I don't think i'm going to read the rest of the series...

  3. I think exactly like you about this one. I didn't know how to rate it even if there're some things I like about this book. I read the others two and enjoyed them more. It's not a series I'll say it's a must read but it's perfect for a summer read. I've got mixed feelings.
