Rating : 4 / 5
Goodreads : Seventeen-year-old Lennie Walker, bookworm and band geek, plays second clarinet and spends her time tucked safely and happily in the shadow of her fiery older sister, Bailey. But when Bailey dies abruptly, Lennie is catapulted to center stage of her own life—and, despite her nonexistent history with boys, suddenly finds herself struggling to balance two. Toby was Bailey's boyfriend; his grief mirrors Lennie's own. Joe is the new boy in town, a transplant from Paris whose nearly magical grin is matched only by his musical talent. For Lennie, they're the sun and the moon; one boy takes her out of her sorrow, the other comforts her in it. But just like their celestial counterparts, they can't collide without the whole wide world exploding.
My review : This book is beautifully written. I wish I could write like this.
I only gave this book 4 stars and not 5 because it was a little slow to get into the story because I didn't see the point of the story at first. This book was just really weird at the beginning but then I kept reading and fall in love with the writing and the characters especially the main character Lennie. I never lost someone really dear to me, so I can't understand what she is going throught in the book but I felt really close to her. Even if sometimes it was hard to understand what was going on in her head because like I've just said I've never been in that situation.
This book is really sad. It deals with Lennie's older sister death and everything that comes after, the feelings of abandonment and grief, broken friendships, and broken hearts.
The relationship between Lennie and Joe is beautiful and realistic. But I also understand her feelings about Toby even if it was a little bit odd at the beginning, there’s something so disarmingly honest about all this.
I also love Lennie's family and her besfriend. The characters are really well developed and touching & I love her obsession with Wuthering Heights.
The little piece of poems that she scattered everywhere and on everything were SO beautiful. It might be the thing that I liked the most in this book.
Another book : I got a UK copy of The sky is everywhere and the design is stunning !
