Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier

Rating : 5/5 stars

My review : I know that there are a lot of flaws in this book and it lacked depth and emotions sometimes but I don't care because I love these books too much to have strong requirements.

Apart from the relationship between Xemerius and Gwen I loved another relationship in this book and it's the one between Gwen and her grandfather. I would love to go back in time and meet my ancestors when they were young. I thought their meetings were so touching and interesting. On the contrary I like Gwen and Gideon relationship but I don't think the romance is what I like best in that series. The romance is kind of immature so it's not the main point of the book and that's refreshing. Even if Gideon is really swoon-worthy.

I was a little bit disappointed because we don't see much of James but I loved the ball scene and when she goes back in time to see him at the end too. The ball scene in the 18th century and how she was so happy to live afterwards is probably my favorite scene. I thought their relationship was really sweet but I was surprised because I thought from the beginning that Jame would have a more important part in the story. I thought he would be important in the third book but it wasn't the case.

The big flaw in this last book was the unraveling of Count Saint-Germain's "grand plan". I thought it was just too easy and fast. However the thing I liked at the end was knowing the connection between Gwen and Mr Bernard. I thought that was genius and I was speechless when I read the end.

Even if I loved this third book I would like to know more about some part of the story. I would like to know more about Gwen's ability to talk to ghosts and gargoyles. I also want to know more about the immortality stuff at the end. I would love a spin off series about Gwen and Gideon's future or about Lucie and Paul's past.

Now I can say the Ruby Red trilogy is one of my favorite YA series. It's definitely in my Top Ten favorite series. I can't wait to read Kerstin Gier's other books. I know that she started a new series called Silber but it wasn't translated into english yet. I highly recommend this series for everyone who love time traveling stories.

  1. I absolutely loved this series. I'm glad you enjoyed it, too! I agree that the revealing of the plan was a bit quick and easy, and that bugged me, too. Great review!
