Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan

Rating : 5 / 5

Goodreads: New name, new town, new life. Nastasya has done it too often to count. And there's no end in sight. Nothing ever really ends ...when you're immortal. But now, after centuries of feeding from the lives of the innocents around her, of living with little care for others, Nastasya is ready to turn towards the light. 'After some of the events I've witnessed I felt like I was a shell with nothing alive left in me. I hadn't been going around killing people, but people were hurt -- the memories just kept trickling in like rivulets of fresh acid dripping into my brain until I wanted to scream. It was in my blood, I knew. A darkness. The darkness. I had inherited it, along with my immortality and my black eyes.' Captivating, intense and with an incredible and original voice, EVERLASTING LIFE is a haunting story of friendship, love and secrets, tragedy and loss. Sometimes life is eternal...

My review :  Wow.. just wow ! I LOVED this book and it might even be one of my favorite YA book now ! Yes guys it's that good. I didn't expect something this awesome when I started it because I didn't really like Cate Tiernan other series Sweep. But this one... This was one of those books I had a hard time putting down.
First I always loved the idea of immortality, it's positive points and consequences (and it was really interesting here to follow the story of a girl who has been a teenager for 459 years old) and I really liked how Cate Tiernan writes about it. I felt as if she had written this book just for me when I was reading it !
I especially loved  all the glimpses into Nasty's earlier life, her chilhood ect because I love history...
I liked River's Edge, the idea of a rehab, a place to find yourself, and facing immortality. Finding self-acceptance, exploring her painful past and revealing just who she is could be the death of her.I liked knowing more about her powers and family and I can't wait to know more !
And I don't know why but I loved Innoncencio. I know we don't really see him in this book but I really hope we'll know more about him in the second one. Oh and about Reyn too (the Vicking God ! He reminded me of Eric in True Blood) ! He was such a mysterious and hot character and the historical link between him and Nastaya was really... powerful. Their relationship balance between hate and desire and there are some beautiful moments with the two of them.
Immortal Beloved was gripping and heart-wrenching ! Magical, romantic, historical, thrilling, it held me spellbound until the last page and I can't wait to read the second now.
