My review : After Bloodlines comes out I started rereading all the VA books for the third time. I just finished rereading Last Sacrifice this morning just in time to read the graphic novel based on the first book of the series that I received yesterday.
My feelings are a little bit mixed about this graphic novel.
About the characters I really didn't like Lissa's drawings, it's just not her ! And her clothes are pretty bad too. But I liked Christian face even if I felt like I was reading a manga. Mia (OMG her hair!!!) and Nathalie (glasses? really?) drawings were just ridiculous. I also didn't like how the strigois were represented (Nathalie's skin is green when she is turned Strigoi O_o).
I missed Rose's witty remarks and she was too blushing when Dimitri were around. I didn't imagine her behaving like that when I was reading the book.
But especially I didn't see and felt any feelings toward Rose and Dimitri relationship. It's really not like in the book. I didn't felt this amazing attraction and desire between them even if I know it's more subtle in a graphic novel but it was more about the action here...
Otherwise I really liked how Rose was represented. She is beautiful and really badass just like in the book. The drawings were actually pretty good and I was glad to see some of my favorite lines from the book still here.
I didn't really love this graphic novel because it can't be like the book. I know the book is like 400 pages but i'm not really into comic books so it's maybe why I didn't love it that much. I wanted it cause I'm a huge fan of this series and I buy everything related to it.
Anyway I did enjoy reading it so that's why i'm giving it 3 stars !
I had the same feeling towards my first graphic novel. It wasn't even close to what I felt while reading the actual book. But then again I don't really like graphic novels so maybe that was it. I don't think I'll be reading this one even though I loved the book.
