The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab

Rating : 5 / 5

Goodreads : "The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children. "
"If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company. "
"And there are no strangers in the town of Near."
These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life.
But when an actual stranger--a boy who seems to fade like smoke--appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true.
The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him.
As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi's need to know--about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about the history of this nameless boy.
Part fairy tale, part love story, Victoria Schwab's debut novel is entirely original yet achingly familiar: a song you heard long ago, a whisper carried by the wind, and a dream you won't soon forget.

My review : Wow. This is one of my favorite book this year and I don't even know how to describe what I felt when I was reading this book... Just read it guys !!!
Since I really want to read The Archived her new book coming out in January I wanted to read her debut novel first.
And The Near Witch... blew me away ! I'm totally bewitched ! It was beautiful, suspenseful, breathtaking...
The romance is so cute and innocent... The romance is not the main focus of this book but when I was reading Lexi and Cole's scenes... it took my breath away !
The story is so great ! It is a like fairy tale well at least like one of our childhood bedtime story but with lots of dark and mysterious parts. I was totally enthralled by this plot.
And the setting is so important in that book ! I loved the atmosphere.
And finally you want to know why I loved this book so much? Because of the writing ! I've read a lot of books and... this is one of the best writing in YA literature for now !
I really admire Victoria Schwab's writing and from now on i'm going to read all her books because of that.
Her words are powerful, lyrical, intense. It conveys so much emotions, dreams and pictures. And her writing style matches the setting. I could really well imagine myself out in the moor following the wind.
I didn't want it to end. I wanted to stay in The Near Witch's story and walk in the moor with Lexi, hug and comfort Cole, sing the Near Witch's songs with Lexi's little sister...
I was captivated by this book, it's one of the most imaginative book that I've ever read and I won't forget soon...

I won this book on Ingrid's blog so thanks again because I loved it <3 .="." nbsp="nbsp" p="p">
