There were a lot of authors that I really like but some signing lines were too long so I didn't get my books signed sometimes (for Erik l'Homme, Amélie Nothomb, Katherine Pancol, Eric Emmanuel Schmitt).
The negative point of the day was the crowd. I never went to Paris book fair on a saturday (last year I went friday) and during the afternoon there was so much people !
First we went to a sort of lecture with the editor of Bragelonne, an author, an historian. It was about bit-lit I don't really know what the translation in english for this genre is. It's all the books about vampires, werewolves, faeries and so on but more adult books than YA. Such as the succubus series by Richelle Mead, Anita Blake by LK Hamilton. All these kind of books are called bit-lit in France and are often published by Milady.
Throught the day I saw a lot of french bloggers that I really like and that's one of the thing that I liked the most about this day :). To name a few : Francesca, Tessa, Fleur, Steph, Alicia ... I was really happy to see them all. Some I met for the first time and some that I met during the last Paris book fair : Francesca, Tessa... or Montreuil book fair : Fleur. Others I didn't see but again the place was so huge and there was so much people it was evident that I wans't going to see everyone.
We went to Simone Elkeles signing. I talked a little with her. I really liked her Fuentes brothers series and I got the second book Rules of attraction signed because it's my favorite. She was surprised that I read the book in english. We talked about the book trailers...
I also went to Anne Marie Pol signing. She is a french author of middle grade books about ballet. Her series : Danse ! was one of my favorite book series when I was a child and I read and own all the series (40 books!). So I was really happy to meet her.
But also during the day we saw a lot of publishing companies and it was awesome to be surrounded by so much books. Here are a few :
Pocket Jeunesse. French publisher of The Hunger Games :
Castelmore. French publisher of Vampire Academy :
Then we finished the day celebrating St Patrick's Day in an irish pub in Paris :).

T'as du passer un trop bon week end comrade :) !!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a really fun time! And it's great to get books signed :)
ReplyDeleteBit-lit kind of brings together urban fantasy and paranormal romance, very practical for those who only want the former and not the latter!
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, we saw each other again, I was so glad!
J'ai aussi lu les Danse, tiens ! Mais je les ai tous passés à ma cousine...
AMAZING !Je ne comprend pas pourquoi tu ne fait pas référence à la super dédicace que tu as eu d'un certain livre :p
ReplyDeleteAha :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing week-end !
